Snow days arrive

While Monday’s snowstorm led to the creation of the Knaffla family’s “Matilda” (top left) and a mini snowman downtown (top right), it also led to plenty of work for the crews of the Manistique Department of Public Works (below) and the Schoolcraft County Road Commission. According to the National Weather Service – Marquette, Monday’s storm brought the highest snowfall amounts across central and eastern Upper Michigan, with 12 inches of wet, heavy snow recorded in Manistique by 10 p.m. Monday. The storm also led to the cancellation of area schools Monday and Tuesday. See additional snow fun photos, submitted by residents via the Pioneer Tribune Facebook page, on page A8.
