New executive for Hiawathaland scouts

Corkin will lead Bay Lakes scout council

MANISTIQUE – Effective Sept. 1, Kevin Corkin will become a district executive for the Hiawathaland District of the Bay- Lakes Boy Scout Council. Former executive, Michael Alberts, had been promoted to senior district executive in the Manitowoc area.

As district executive, Corkin is responsible for providing service to packs, troops, crews, and ships in the area, organizing membership round-ups and product sales, recruiting and training adult volunteers, managing fundraising efforts, and conducting activities above the unit level.

Corkin is a 2013 graduate of Northern Michigan University majoring in outdoor recreation leadership and management.

In his history with Boy Scouts, Corkin earned the Eagle Scout Award and received the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow.

He completed Wood Badge Training, attended national leadership seminar, and was assistant scoutmaster for the 2010 National Jamboree.

He has served on camp staff for nine seasons and was camp director at Camp Hiawatha in 2013.
